Threat-Fire Patent arrives at VirTra!

In early September we announced that VirTra was awarded a patent for Simulator Return Fire Capability - aka Threat-Fire™.

The patent, officially titled "Method of training utilizing a threat fire simulation system," has arrived.

John Hinnant started his career as an Intelligence Analyst in the US Army, a Program Lead at PEO STRI, a Program Manager at the FBI, and then joined Intelligent Decisions (ID), where he was a Managing Director for the past 4 years.  His duties with ID were focused on developing winning strategies and proposals for new business.

Under Mr. Hinnant's leadership, Intelligent Decisions expanded from $0 in FBI contracts in 2007 to approximately $60 million a year at the time of his departure.

“Montana’s Air National Guard selected the VirTra 300 to replace an outdated firearms training system previously acquired from a competitor,” says Bob Ferris, CEO, VirTra Systems. “Our simulators are the next generation in marksmanship and judgmental use of force simulation, helping forces like the Air National Guard to increase operational effectiveness through more challenging training.” 

 The VirTra 300 is the most immersive judgmental use of force simulator available. Five screens provide 300 degrees of use of force scenario immersion. The system includes recoil kits that simulate the action of combat arms and optionally includes VirTra’s patented Threat-Fire™ device, which further enhances training realism with an adjustable electrical shock that simulates return fire.  The weapon simulator is reconfigurable to support up to 15 individual firing lanes, the VirTra 300 expertly trains collective and individual war fighter skills including Marksmanship, Close Quarters Combat (CQB), Urban Warfare (MOUT), Simulator-based Massive Shoot House, and more.

The Moultrie PD in Moultrie, Georgia recently dedicated its new VirTra 300 judgmental use of force simulator.

The simulator will be used to help law enforcement personnel throughout Southwest Georgia and will be housed at Moultrie Technical College, where it will also be used by the criminal justice program there. Congratulations to the City of Moultrie!
